WASHINGTON (July 11, 2023) — CHEMTREC®, the leading emergency response information provider for hazardous materials incidents, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew H. LaVanway as its new Chief Executive. LaVanway joins CHEMTREC from ICF, where he served as Senior Vice President and Division Leader of Disaster Management.
With LaVanway’s extensive leadership experience and diverse background, CHEMTREC is poised for continued growth and innovation, ensuring the highest level of safety and support to industries handling hazardous materials. At ICF, LaVanway managed more than $36 billion in federal funds and over 40 response, recovery, and resilience programs throughout the continental U.S. and the Caribbean Basin. He brings more than 25 years of experience overall leading complex programs in both the public and private sectors.

In his new role as Chief Executive of CHEMTREC, LaVanway is charged with driving the company's strategic growth initiatives while leading the senior management team. “CHEMTREC is already the world’s leading source of information and emergency incident support for shippers of hazardous materials,” LaVanway said. “I look forward to leveraging my passion and experience in emergency response to expand CHEMTREC’s services while continuing to enhance its reputation as the industry leader in hazardous materials incident management.”
LaVanway is a former chairman of the Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission, a certified firefighter, and an emergency medical services officer in Calvert County, Maryland. He earned a B.A. in economics from Gettysburg College, an MBA from Georgetown University, and a series of leadership certificates from Harvard Business School.
